Ichenanny!

On August 24, the speech and debate team gathered for our first social event of the year: the Ichenanny. Occurring the first Saturday after the start of classes, the Ichenanny is an opportunity for returning members to catch up before the Team Open House.

The day started off with a team float down the Ichetucknee River—after we rented tubes and managed to somehow transport them in our cars. We got wet and had an interesting time trying to stay together while also not getting stuck on tree branches or rocks. Some people slept in the sun. It was relaxing, fun, and a great way to start our day. (Though by the time we got on the river I’m not so sure it should be considered the start of the day anymore.)

After the float, we all loaded back up in cars and headed to Kellie and Marna’s for a cookout. We ate great food, talked a lot, and played some games. Marna quizzed us on current events and we all talked some more. Overall, it was a pretty awesome day full of good food, great people, and a lot of fun.
