On August 13th, the coaches and debaters of the UF policy debate squad formally began their preparation for the 2013-14 college debate topic: “Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase statutory and/or judicial restrictions on the war powers authority of the President of the United States in one or more of the following areas: targeted killing; indefinite detention; offensive cyber operations; or introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities.” Composed of a small yet hard working group, the UF policy debate squad has high expectations going into 2013-2014 and everyone – new and old, varsity and novice – is excited over the prospect of another successful year. The squad welcomes two new members, Jes Lipka and Joshua Michael. Jes and Joshua have previous high school policy debate experience. The first tournament is at Georgia State University, September 21-23, 2013. We look forward to another successful season. Go Gators!
